About Heidi
I have always been a mover whether that be climbing trees and riding bikes as a child or walking and hiking as an adult. I remember looking in the mirror in 2007, I did not recognize the person staring back at me. I was tired. I had put on some weight. I was not happy. I chose to change this and to improve my life. This is where my passion for movement began. I started taking Pilates and spinning classes. My general well-being improved, and I began to play with other forms of exercise. I remember the first time I ran from one end of town to the other. A feeling of pride and accomplishment spread through me.
My movement journey continued while I was a caregiver to a woman in her nineties. As this became a stressful job at times, she was in and out of the hospital the last year of her life, I learned movement kept us both grounded. Movement was a lifesaver! When the caregiving job ended, I chose to teach movement. I wanted to share the transformative powers. For me, it is another form of caring for others. It’s a way to give back and improve lives.
Movement trainings have been guided by my own healing. I struggled with chronic neck and shoulder pain. At times, the pain was intense and nothing relieved it. Each modality I use, I have personally used to heal my own body and mind. I am happy to say that I am pain-free most of the time.
Today, I enjoy hiking, walking, running, Pilates, TRX, and any form of exercise I desire. I believe in eating well. moving the body, and finding stillness in meditation. Take care of your body and it will take care of you.
I live for the moment when a client’s eyes light up because they are able to finally perform a movement they have been working towards, the moment a client comes in and tells me that they were able stand to on one leg while putting on their Pilates leggings, and clients that just have less or no pain now . Ahhh, it’s the small things, which are really big things, in life that inspire me!
